GREENSBORO -- Dr. Thomas Martinek, a professor of exercise and sport science at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, has received the Arthur Herbert Wilde Society Award from the School of Education at Boston University.
Nominations for the award came from over 35,000 alumni of the BU School of Education. Named for the schools founding dean, the Wilde Award is presented to graduates of the BU School of Education for outstanding achievement and distinction to the profession.
A UNCG faculty member since 1976, Martinek received his Doctor of Education degree from Boston University. His area of specialization is psycho-social factors affecting the teaching of physical education. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education and the author of three books: "Psycho-Social Dynamics of Teaching Physical Education," "Growth and Development: The Child and Physical Activity" and Pygmalion in the Gym."
