FACULTY MEMBERS PROMOTED AT UNCG
GREENSBORO -- Members of the faculty at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro have been granted promotions, Chancellor Patricia A. Sullivan has announced.
The promotions have been approved by the UNCG Board of Trustees for promotion only and by the UNC Board of Governors for promotion and/or tenure, as specified under university rules and regulations. The promotions are effective Aug. 1, 1999.
Fifteen faculty members were promoted from associate professor with permanent tenure to full professor with permanent tenure. They are as follows:
* Dr. Rebecca Adams, Department of Sociology, College of Arts and Sciences. She holds the Ph.D. degree from the University of Chicago.
*Dr. Hazel Brown, School of Nursing. She holds the Ed.D. degree from UNCG.
*Dr. Nancy Cassill, Department of Textile Products Design and Marketing. She holds the Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
*Dr. Ruth DeHoog, Department of Political Science, College of Arts and Sciences. She holds the Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University.
*Dr. Grace Kissling, Department of Mathematical Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences. She holds the Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill.
*Dr. Randy Kohlenberg, School of Music. He holds the Ph.D. degree from the University of Oklahoma at Norman.
*Dr. David Ludwig, Department of Mathematical Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences. He holds the Ph.D. degree from Iowa State University.
*Dr. Samuel Miller, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, School of Education. He holds the Ph.D. from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
*Dr. Kay Pasley, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, School of Human Environmental Sciences. She holds the Ed.D. degree from Indiana University at Bloomington.
*Dr. Parke Rublee, Department of Biology, College of Arts and Sciences. He holds the Ph.D. degree from N.C. State University.
*Dr. Fereidoon Sadri, Department of Mathematical Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences. He holds the Ph.D. degree from Princeton University.
*Dr. Linda Wightman, Department of Educational Research Methodology, School of Education. She holds the Ed.D. degree from Rutgers University.
*Dr. Kent Williams, School of Music. He holds the Ph.D. degree from Indiana University at Bloomington.
*Dr. Kathleen Williams, Department of Exercise and Sport Science, School of Health and Human Performance. She holds the Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
*Dr. Michael Zimmerman, Department of Philosophy, College of Arts and Sciences. He holds the Ph.D. degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Several other faculty members were promoted from assistant professor to associate professor and were granted permanent tenure. They are as follows: Dr. Pierre Balthazard, Dr. Vidyaranya Gargeya and Dr. David Steiger, Department of Information Systems and Operations Management; Dr. Susan Calkins, Department of Psychology; Stuart Dischell, Department of English; Andrew Dunnill and Robert R. Gerhart III, Department of Art; Dr. Nan Enstad and Dr. Colleen Kriger, Department of History; Dr. Virginia Hinton, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders; David Holley, School of Music; Dr. Eric Johnston, Department of Chemistry; Dr. Karen Katula, Department of Biology; Dr. Barbara Levin, Department of Curriculum and Instruction; Dr. Elizabeth Lindsey, Department of Social Work; Dr. Promod Pratap, Department of Physics and Astronomy; Dr. David Wharton, Department of Classical Studies; and Dr. Andrew Willis, School of Music.
In addition, Dr. Arthur Anastopoulos, who holds the rank of associate professor in the Department of Psychology, was granted permanent tenure.
