UNCG BUSINESS PROFESSOR SPEAKS AT
INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONFERENCE

GREENSBORO--Dr. Riad Ajami, who is the Charles A. Hayes Distinguished Professor of Business at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, was one of the featured speakers and panel members at the Global Petroleum Summit, held recently in Paris.

Ajami, an internationally known expert in oil economics,  spoke on "Oil Sanctions and Challenges for the U.S. Oil Companies." The conference was organized by London-based SMi Energy Conferences.

Ajami joined the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNCG in 1996. In addition to his appointment as the Hayes Distinguished Professor, he is director of the Center for Global Business Education and Research. He has discussed oil economics on Nightline with Ted Koppel, the Lehrer NewsHour, CNN, CBS Radio and National Public Radio.

Before coming to UNCG, he held the Benjamin Forman Chair Professor of International Business and was director of CIBEG at the Rochester Institute of Technology from 1991-96. Earlier, he was chair of the Department of International Business and Strategy at Ohio State University from 1985-91. Ajami holds the Ph.D. degree in international business, strategic management and oil economics from Pennsylvania State University.
