UNCG Strikes up the Bands to Start October
GREENSBORO — Batons will be waving at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro during the beginning of October, as the Symphonic and University bands bring the best in band repertoire to the community.
The first performance will be Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m., when the UNCG Symphonic Band will perform in Aycock Auditorium. Under the direction of David L. Kish, the Symphonic Band will perform "Esprit De Corps" by Robert Jager; "October" by Eric Whitacre; "Of Sailors and Whales" by W. Francis McBeth; "Noble Men" by Henry Fillmore; "Three London Miniatures" by Mark Camphouse; and "Country Gardens" by Percy Grainger.
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m., the UNCG University Band will perform in Aycock Auditorium. Under the direction of Richard D. Edwards, the University Band will perform "American Fanfare" by John Wasson; "Australian Up Country Tune" by Percy Grainger; "Cajun Folk Songs" by Frank Ticheli; "Come, Sweet Death" by J.S. Bach (arr. by Alfred Reed); "Aquarium" by Johan de Meij; "Der Traum de Oenghus" by Rolf Rudin; and "Ross Roy" by Jacob de Haan.
Concert tickets are available from the UNCG Box Office or in the School
of Music box office, and prior to the performance in Aycock Auditorium.
