AREA BUSINESS LEADERS APPOINTED TO
UNCG BRYAN SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD
GREENSBORO-- Business
executives from the Piedmont Triad area have been appointed or re-appointed
to the business advisory board of the Joseph M. Bryan School of Business
and Economics at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
David L. DeVries, co-president of Kaplan-DeVries Inc., will continue to serve as chair of the advisory board. Serving as the board's vice chair will be Jan R. Capps, vice president of human resources for Sygenta.
The board serves as an advisory group to Dean James K. Weeks on ways the school can better meet the needs of the Triad's business and professional community. The Bryan School is the largest of UNCG's six professional schools, with approximately 2,200 undergraduates and 400 graduate students.
"We are delighted that these leaders
from the business community are joining the Bryan School's advisory board,"
said Weeks. "To be successful in serving the Piedmont Triad, we must receive
advice and support from significant business leaders, both from this region
and beyond. These new members are joining a board that is already exceptional.
We look forward to the contributions they can make to the Bryan School."
New members named to the board are
Eric A. Button, president and CEO, Amplistar, Inc.; Daniel A. Lynch, senior
vice president, Guilford Economic Development Partnership, Forward Guilford;
Natalie Perkins, president, Trone Advertising, Inc.; Boyd Rogers, vice
president, Business Process Executive Supply Chain, VF Services; and Louis
Moore, regional president, BB&T. Button, Lynch, Perkins and Rogers
are UNCG Bryan School alumni. The new appointees are expected to serve
one three-year term.
Members who were re-appointed to three-year terms by the UNCG Board of Trustees are John L. Bakane, CEO, Cone Mills Corp.; Russell R. Myers, vice president, Finance, Geneva Corp.; Christian J. Pfaff, president and CEO, Thomasville Furniture Industries; Gary F. Simmons, president, VF Playwear; Meg Sternberg, vice president, Corporate Affairs and Administration, United HealthCare of North Carolina.
Dr. John W. McCulloch, retired vice president, Government Solutions, Lucent Technologies, has been re-appointed for a third three-year term.
Formed in 1986, the advisory board has five general purposes: to provide advice on the school's service to the business and professional community; serve as a sounding board for research projects, educational programs and external activities; provide a mechanism for informing the business and professional community about the capabilities of the school; assist in developing funding priorities and strategies for the school; provide a clearinghouse for faculty to speak and consult with organizations, and for professional and business community members to enter the classroom.
