Education Career Day at UNCG on Feb. 6

GREENSBORO – An Education Career Day will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and representatives from 115 school systems in 12 states are expected to attend.

The event will take place from 12:30 to 4 p.m. in Cone Ballroom of Elliott University Center. Sponsors are the UNCG Career Services Center, NC A&T State University Career Services Center and the UNCG School of Education.

The event is being held for NCA&T and UNCG students who are currently seeking teacher certification, in addition to students seeking positions in school counseling, library science, social work, speech pathology, nursing, dietetics and administration positions within educational settings. It is also open to alumni of both institutions and other interested persons. For details, call the center at 334-5454.

Approximately one-third of the recruiters are coming from Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. They will join those from approximately 70 North Carolina school systems.

"The job market for educators continues to be excellent," said Tony Abbruzzi, an assistant director of the UNCG Career Services Center. "This is particularly true in the fields of the sciences, foreign languages, mathematics, special education, computer science and technology, speech pathology, library science, administration and gifted/talented education.

"While our Education Career Day is primarily geared to students and alumni, it is open to the community as well. Meeting with the recruiters will enable our students to see what opportunities in the field of education are available in North Carolina as well as elsewhere in the country."
