UNCG Celebration
of Excellence Set for May 5
GREENSBORO – The University
of North Carolina at Greensboro will honor achievements by faculty, students
and staff during two celebrations Wednesday, May 5, in the Elliott University
Center Auditorium.
The University Excellence Awards
Convocation will be held at 4:30 p.m. Several awards will be presented
to recognize excellence in teaching, research and service. Most are funded
by the UNCG Excellence Foundation. Honors to be presented are:

Research Excellence Awards, to a full
professor and an assistant professor.

Staff Excellence awards, to a member
or members of the UNCG staff.

Alumni Teaching Excellence Awards, going
to one tenured and one untenured faculty member.
-
Gladys Strawn Bullard Awards recognizing
service by faculty, staff and students.
-
George and Beatrice Fisher Gerontology
dissertation award.
-
Outstanding doctoral dissertation and
master’s thesis awards, and graduate assistant teaching awards.
The Undergraduate Honors Convocation
will take place at 7 p.m. Student Excellence Award certificates will be
conferred on seniors and juniors, and seniors who completed the Honors
Program also will be recognized. Dr. Stephen Danford, professor and head
of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, will be the featured speaker.
Poster presentations by students
in the Undergraduate Research Assistant program will be on display from
noon-7 p.m. in the lobby of the EUC Auditorium, with presentations scheduled
from 5:45-6:45 p.m.
