GOLDFARB KEYNOTES CONFERENCE IN CHINA
GREENSBORO-- Dr. Allan Goldfarb, a professor of exercise and sport science at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, spoke during the Chinese National Sports Medicine Conference in Gungzhaou, China recently.
Goldfarb’s address titled “Are Nutritional Antioxidants Beneficial in Preventing Exercise- induced Muscle Damage?” was the keynote of the conference. Over 500 scientists from China and surrounding countries attended.
Goldfarb joined the UNCG faculty in 1987. His area of expertise is exercise physiology with special emphasis on the biochemistry of exercise. His research has focused on two areas, the supplementation of antioxidants on exercise-induced oxidative stress and the effects of beta endorphins on regulating metabolism during exercise. He has had articles published in a number of journals, including the Journal of Applied Physiology, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise and the International Journal of Sports Nutrition. Goldfarb holds a Ph.D. degree from Temple University.
