Freeman Presents First in Series of MFA Thesis Concerts
 

Virginia Ray Freeman will perform her own choreography and be featured in the dances of guest choreographers during an MFA thesis concert March 21 and 22.

GREENSBORO – The UNCG Department of Dance will present Crescendo, an MFA thesis concert featuring the choreography and performances of Virginia Ray Freeman.  The concerts will begin at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22, in the UNCG Dance Theater on Walker Avenue.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors and students, and $5 for UNCG students.  Free parking is available in the university lot at the corner of Walker and Aycock avenues. For ticket information and reservations, call (336) 334-4849.

A series of MFA thesis concerts is scheduled during the next several weeks. Freeman’s opening concert will be followed by dances from Eleanor Smith (March 28-29), Kindal Blattner (April 4-5) and Lauren Tepper (April 11-12).

Freeman will present three of her own choreographic works:
 


In addition to showing her own choreography, Freeman will also perform in the works of guest faculty choreographers John Gamble (Falls from Grace), Gerri Houlihan (On Again), Eluza Santos (Stormy Night) and Jan Van Dyke (Waltz).

Freeman graduated from UNCG in 1996 with a BFA in dance and a BA in English.  She has performed with both the Jan Van Dyke Dance Group and the John Gamble Dance Theater since 1995.  Assistant director of John Gamble Dance Theater, Freeman teaches at Burlington Academy of Dance and Arts. She also choreographs, performs and teaches throughout North Carolina as a guest artist.
