UNCG Presents "America in the Global Economy" March 20-May 1
The Center for Global Business Education and Research of the Bryan School of Business and Economics will present the annual foreign policy discussion series, “America in the Global Economy,” this spring at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Sponsored nationally by the Foreign Policy Association, the seminars are presented annually by the Center and are part of the national “Great Decision” series. The Center is designated as the Piedmont Triad sponsor of the program, which features presentations by Bryan School faculty and special guest speakers who are well known experts in their field.
The series is also offered as an MBA course and open to the public for a $25 registration fee (textbook included). Presentations are held on consecutive Thursday evenings beginning March 20 and continuing through May 1. Registration is required. Each presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Maple Room of the newly renovated Elliott University Center located on the UNCG campus. Parking is available in the Walker Avenue Parking Deck located directly behind the Bryan School and across from the Elliott University Center.
The series is led by Dr. Riad Ajami, director of the Center and the Charles A. Hayes Distinguished Professor of Business. Joining Dr. Ajami from UNCG are Dr. Paul Muchinsky, Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Professor of Business, and Dr. Chang Choi and Dr. James Woodley, assistant professors of international business.

Thursday, March 20 – “Introduction: Multilateralism Vs. Unilateralism”

Dr. Robert J. Griffiths, UNCG Department of Political Science.
Thursday, March 27 – “European Integration” – Guest Speaker: Dr. William Crowther, UNCG Department of Political Science.
Thursday, April 3 – “U.S. – Saudi Relations” – Dr. Riad Ajami, director, Center for Global Business Education and Research, Bryan School, UNCG.
Thursday, April 10 – “World Trade and International Food Policy” – Guest Speaker: Dr. Kofi Adu-Nyako, North Carolina A&T State University School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
Thursday, April 17 – “Women’s Rights” – Guest Speaker: Dr. Barbara Anne Bennett, Wake Forest University Department of English.
Thursday, April 24 – “Afghanistan” – BBC & Discovery Channel
documentary presentation of “Afghanistan: 12 Years of Violence” followed
by special guest speakers.
Thursday, May 1 – Final Session: Vineyard to Vineyard – France
and North Carolina Wine Industries – A Report. Guest Speakers: Bobby Todd,
executive director of the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce, area wine-makers
and participants from the “Experience Business Abroad” France Program.
