DR. BERT GOLDMAN NAMED FACULTY MARSHAL

GREENSBORO--Dr. Bert A. Goldman, a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations, has been appointed Faculty Marshal by Chancellor Patricia Sullivan.

He will begin serving in the 2000-01 academic year, succeeding Dr. Robert Calhoon, professor of history, in the ceremonial position. Goldman’s selection was based on his distinguished record of teaching, research and service.

As Faculty Marshal, Goldman’s duties include leading the academic procession during University ceremonies, carrying the University Mace, and membership in the Commencement Committee, which plans faculty participation at Commencement.
Goldman has been a faculty member at UNCG since 1965. He has been co-editor of  “The Directory of Unpublished Experimental Mental Measures,” a series of directories on unpublished experimental tests which assists researchers in psychology, sociology and education.

From 1970-85, he served as dean of the Office of Academic Advising. He also served as acting chair of the Department of Educational Administration, Higher Education and Educational Research in UNCG’s School of Education in 1987-88. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he received his master’s from UNC-Chapel Hill and his Ed.D. from the University of Virginia.
