Dr. Maureen Grasso

UNCG PROFESSOR APPOINTED TO ASSOCIATION BOARD

GREENSBORO — Dr. Maureen M. Grasso, associate dean of the Graduate School at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, was recently appointed to serve as a director-at-large on the board of directors for the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers. She will be installed at ASHRAE's annual meeting in Minneapolis, Minn, June 24-29.

An international organization of more than 50,000 members, ASHRAE's purpose is to  advance research and conduct standards writing and continuing education in the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. Grasso will be responsible for guiding the technological interests of the society, and, as a board member, will help set policy.

In other recent activities, Grasso was invited to present her paper, "Collaborative Experiences That Make a Difference: Interdisciplinary Research" at the International Textile and Apparel Association conference in Santa Fe, N.M., in November. At the same conference she and Dr. Diana Vass, associate professor in the Department of Textile Products Design and Marketing at UNCG, presented their research on "Fabric Utilization and Recycling Practices in Sewn Products Manufacturing.
At the Seventh Cross-Cultural Consumer and Business Studies Research Conference in Cancun, Mexico, in December,

Grasso presented a paper with Dr. Martha McEnally, associate professor of business administration in UNCG's Bryan School of Business and Economics, on "Recycling in the U.S.A., Sweden and South Africa: A Comparison of Attitudes, Behavior and Demographics."

Grasso joined the faculty of UNCG in 1992. Her research interests include thermal and shade properties of textile products. She received her master's degree from Cornell University and her doctorate from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
