HOLIDAY CHORAL CONCERT DEC. 9 AT UNCG

GREENSBORO—The annual Holiday Choral Concert by the School of Music at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro will take place at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in Aycock Auditorium.

The program will feature a variety of holiday music, including classical and contemporary pieces and popular carols. The audience will be able to sing along on such favorites as "O Come, All Ye Faithful," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," "Away in a Manger" and "Joy to the World."

Nearly 200 singers representing the Women's Choir, Women's and Men's Glee Clubs, University Chorale and Chamber Singers will perform. Conductors will be Dr. William Carroll, Dr. Richard Cox, Welborn Young and Randy Price.

Other selections on the program include "Ave Maria" by Gustav Holst, "Glory to God" by Randall Thompson, "Christmas Comes Anew" by Mark Riese, "O Magnum Mysterium" by Cristobal de Morales, "Shepherds Shake Off Your Drowsy Sleep" by Robert Scholz, "Deck the Hall" by James McKelvey and "Make We Joy" by Edwin Fissinger.

The holiday concert has been a tradition since the days when UNCG was Woman's College. It also has become tradition to stage the concert on the Sunday before the final days of classes, giving the students a positive note on which to start final exams. As is tradition, the concert will conclude with the combined choruses singing "Silent Night."

Tickets are available through the UNCG box office (336-334-4849, noon-5 p.m. weekdays), with locations in Aycock Auditorium and the School of Music. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for students. Visit the School of Music "Concerts and Events" website at http://musical.uncg.edu/.
