UNCG Choirs Raise Voices in Holiday Concert Dec. 8
GREENSBORO — Join the choirs of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in song during the annual holiday choral concert Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3:30 p.m. in Aycock Auditorium.
Voices from UNCG’s Chamber Singers, University Chorale, Women’s Choir, Men’s Glee Club and Women’s Glee Club will combine to form a more than 200-member choir. The singers will be accompanied by piano, organ and brass ensemble.
Leading the choir will be School of Music faculty Dr. William P. Carroll and Welborn E. Young, along with graduate assistants Richard Waters and Randy Price.
The concert will feature contemporary and traditional carols, including sing-a-long selections. “The Holly and the Ivey,” “Away in a Manger,” “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Ave Maria” are a few of the holiday favorites on the program.
The choir will also present the world premiere arrangement of “This Little Light of Mine.” The popular religious song has a new arrangement by Larry Shackley of Columbia, S.C., who will be in attendance the night of the concert. Ryan Deal, a junior vocal performance major from Statesville, will be the soloist for the piece.
Tickets for the annual concert are available at the university box office, with locations in Aycock Auditorium and the School of Music, weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. Prices are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors, children and non-UNCG students and $3 for UNCG students.
