Chancellor Patricia Sullivan Inducted Into
Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame
GREENSBORO – Dr. Patricia A. Sullivan, chancellor of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, has been inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame.
The award was bestowed Friday, Oct. 17, at a reception and dinner. Speakers at the event were UNC President Molly Corbett Broad and Dr. Richard L. “Skip” Moore, president of the Weaver Foundation and a former UNCG vice chancellor for university advancement.
“Pat Sullivan is among the most seasoned chancellors in the UNC system, and she is admired across the system and among her peers nationally,” Broad said. “Under her quiet but forceful leadership, UNCG has become an example of how a university can support community development and economic development.”
Sullivan has led UNCG since January 1995. With her induction, she becomes the first higher education executive in the Triad to join the select group of business and community leaders. The awards were started in 1980 by Junior Achievement of Central North Carolina to honor prominent business people who have made extraordinary contributions of leadership to their community. Former recipients include Charles “Chuck” Hayes, J. Spencer Love, Julian Price, W. Roger Soles, E.S. (Jim) Melvin, Lunsford Richardson and Joseph M. Bryan.
Moore’s remarks reflected his years at UNCG, working with Sullivan. “One doesn’t work for Pat Sullivan, you work with her – and that is the highest compliment I can give because that style brings out the best in everyone around her. She listens to everyone – not just the high administrators or the rich alumni or the big donors – and she remembers and acknowledges suggestions, ideas and contributions.”
