Dr. Beatrice Kovacs

UNCG PROFESSOR SPEAKS IN SAN DIEGO

GREENSBORO—Dr. Beatrice Kovacs, an associate professor of library and information studies at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, was an invited speaker at the second southwestern regional conference of the Special Libraries Association in San Diego, CA., in April.

Her speech was titled "In Class, Web Class, Out Class: Distance Education at Work."  The presentation focused on using TopClass software as the platform for assisting televised and on-site coursework through supplementary material delivery and student input, discussion, and feedback.

Kovacs joined the UNCG faculty in 1985. She is author of "The Decision Making Process in Library Collections" and is co-author of "Using Science and Technology Information Services." She was formerly collection development librarian at the University of New Mexico Medical Center and the Medical College of Georgia. Kovacs is a past president of the N.C. Special Libraries Association. A graduate of Syracuse University, she holds the Doctor of Library Science degree from Columbia University.
