UNCG ADMINISTRATOR PROMOTED
TO ASSOCIATE VICE CHANCELLOR

GREENSBORO--Dr. James M. Lancaster, an administrator in student affairs at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, has been promoted to the position of associate vice chancellor.
Lancaster has been at UNCG since 1974 and had served as assistant vice chancellor since 1989. In addition to his responsibilities in student affairs, he serves in an adjunct appointment in the School of Education. In his current position, Lancaster supervises the areas of student life, campus recreation, multicultural affairs, Office for Adult Students and technology support for student affairs. He also is responsible for administration of student judicial programs and serves as the Coordinator for Academic Integrity.
Lancaster has over 26 years of experience in student development in higher education. He holds bachelor’s (1972) and master’s (1974) degrees in history and a doctorate (1979) in administration of higher education, all from UNCG. He has written and presented widely on the topics of legal, developmental and ethical concerns in administration.
He currently serves as the director of the Donald D. Gehring Student Judicial Affairs Institute of the Association for Student Judicial Affairs and is immediate past-president of the Center for Academic Integrity. He is the co-editor of a recently published monograph on new directions in student services titled “Beyond Law and Policy: Reaffirming the Role of Student Affairs.”
