Annual Triad Leadership Conference for College Students Set for Sept. 7
GREENSBORO--The Triad Leadership Consortium Conference, a major event held each year to give leadership training to college students, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, at North Carolina A&T State University.
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is coordinating the event. More than 300 students from around the Triad are expected to attend, and the conference will offer approximately 25 educational sessions for students. The conference theme is "The Power of Partnerships" and all programs will be held in the Memorial Union or Marteena Building at A&T.
"This event is a joint effort between all the Triad's institutions of higher education," said organizer Stanley Gajda who is assistant director for student organization development at UNCG. "We've got an impressive array of speakers, and all the students attending will get a lot out if it."
Interested students can call Gajda at 334-5800 at UNCG for information on registering. In addition to lunch and a keynote speaker from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the conference will provide workshops and breakout sessions for groups of approximately 40 students each. The keynoter will be Michael Miller, a national motivational speaker and trainer, who will discuss "Exemplary Leadership Practices" in the Memorial Union Ballroom.
Major speakers include Robert "Dusty" Staub II, CEO of Staub Leadership Consultants, speaking on "Leadership, Collaboration and Change"; Nettie Coad, director of the Partnership Project, and Barton Parks, professor at Guilford College, on "Undoing Racism"; success coach Abby Donnelly on "Goal Setting Your Way to Success"; and Debra J "Debbie" Garwych, CEO and founder of Common Boundaries Consulting and Communication, on "Gutsy Girls Lead Here."
