UNCG ART PROFESSOR'S SCULPTURE DISPLAYED IN CHINA

Lee, the only artist invited from the U.S., has been asked to fabricate
his own granite sculpture, which will be approximately 12-feet-by-6-inches,
and to keynote a seminar titled "Theme Salon".
To promote sculpture art and meet the need of the construction of Yuzi
Paradise, the symposium will be held from Oct. 22 - Nov. 25. The goal of
the symposium is to summon the most eminent artists of the world and to
have them join together to create not only cultural exchanges, but a "great
kingdom of art".
Lee has won major awards in international sculpture competitions held in Japan: the Henry Moore Grand Prize Exhibition in 1991 and Fujisankei Bienniale International Exhibition for Contemporary Sculpture in 1993. Both of his winning works are on permanent display at outdoor sculpture museums in Japan. Lee's work has been exhibited at the Miriam Perlman Gallery in Chicago, the David Heath Gallery in Atlanta and the Louis Meisel Gallery in New York and the Inoue Gallery in Osaka, Japan.
A UNCG faculty member since 1984, Lee came from the University of Michigan. A native of in South Africa, he was educated in Great Britain. Lee is a British citizen, residing in the United States. He is a graduate of the Birmingham College of Art and Design and holds the Master of Fine Arts degree from the Royal College of Art in London.
