Keller Begins as Undergraduate Admissions Director June 1
GREENSBORO – Lise Keller, dean of admissions and financial aid at Emory and Henry College in Virginia, has been named undergraduate admissions director at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Her appointment was approved following a national search by the UNC Board of Trustees. Keller will report to Jim Black, UNCG associate provost of enrollment services. She will begin June 1.
“The combination of her knowledge of the profession, management style and compassion made her an excellent candidate,” Black said.
As undergraduate admissions director, Keller will be responsible for supervising 34 employees in the admissions office. Responsibilities will include recruiting and admitting, as well as administering related policies.
The UNCG admissions office uses some of the most “cutting edge” strategies in the nation, Black said. Through e-recruiting and other methods, the office makes more customized contact with prospective students than do most other universities. By the time a high school junior graduates, he or she may have had 42 contacts with the UNCG admissions office.
At Emory and Henry College, Keller was responsible for managing a staff of 15. She identified and implemented new recruitment and financial aid strategies, focusing on increasing diversity and raising academic excellence in the student body. Serving in that capacity since January 2002, she tripled on-campus visits and through the Early Notification Program, doubled the number of applications. Previously she was associate director of undergraduate admissions at Saint Louis University for seven years and director of undergraduate admissions at Lindenwood University in Montana for a year and a half.
Keller holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Centenary College in
Louisiana and a master’s degree in human resource management from Lindenwood
University.
