UNCG SCHOOL OF NURSING
PROFESSOR NAMED FELLOW
GREENSBORO — Dr. Laurie M. Kennedy-Malone, an associate professor
in the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro,
has been elected a Fellow of the Association for Gerontology in Higher
Education
She will be recognized at the annual meeting of the association Feb. 25.The association is a unit of the Gerontological Society of America, which claims 272 institutional members.
Fellow status by the association recognizes outstanding leadership in gerontology and geriatrics education by established scholars and educators. Qualifications include outstanding achievements in teachings, scholarship and research on educational issues, influential research publications or theoretical contribution used in gerontology/geriatrics education and training, or leadership in administration and funding of gerontology/geriatrics education programs, including development of new programs.
Kennedy-Malone directs the Nurse Practitioner Program in the School of Nursing and initiated the Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Program in1992. She has been on the faculty of UNCG since 1990, and has published numerous journal articles and professional papers. She was recognized as one of the Great 100 Registered Nurses in North Carolina in 1996, and in1993 was named Gerontological Nurse of the year by the North Carolina Nurses Association. She received her Ph.D from the University of Texas.
