UNCG Symphony Orchestra Performing Latin American-Mexican Concert Feb. 24
GREENSBORO—The University Symphony Orchestra will present an evening of works by Latin American and Mexican composers when it performs at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, in Aycock Auditorium.
Guest conductor Jorge Perez Gomez will conduct the orchestra and Carolina Zaragoza Flores, who heads the Mexican consulate in North Carolina, will introduce the performance. The program opens the Latin Arts Fest, which will run into April on campus.

The program will feature "Estancia Ballet Suite" by Alberto Ginastera, "Sensymaya" and "Redes" by Silvestre Revueltas, "Sinfonia India" by Carlos Chavez and "Hupango" by Jose Pablo Moncayo. Gomez is an international conductor. A native of Mexico City, he is director of orchestral activities at the University of New Mexico and has been an avid performer of works by Latin American composers.
Tickets are available at the UNCG box office (336-334-4849, noon-5 p.m. weekdays), with locations in Aycock Auditorium and the School of Music. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for students. The school's "Concert and Events" website is located at http://musical.uncg.edu. A reception in Aycock Auditorium for members of the Musical Arts Guild will precede the concert.
