RF MICRO DEVICES CHIEF NAMED TO UNCG BOARD OF TRUSTEES
GREENSBORO--William J. Pratt, Jr., chairman and chief technical officer of RF Micro Devices, Inc., has been appointed by Governor James B. Hunt to serve on the Board of Trustees at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Pratt’s appointment begins immediately and expires June 30, 2003. He replaces Jay Yelton, who resigned recently.
Pratt is a founder of RF Micro Devices, a leading provider of microchips for cellular telephones and other wireless communication devices. Triangle Business Journal recently named the company the state’s fastest-growing technology company and the accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche named RF Micro Devices one of the state’s top 50 technology companies. RFMD employs about 800 local employees. Last September, the company broke ground for a new $200 million microchip plant in Greensboro.
