Priddy Named Bryan School Distinguished Alumnus

GREENSBORO – William A. (Dean) Priddy, Jr., chief financial officer of RF Micro Devices, Inc., will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Bryan School of Business and Economics at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

A dinner and reception will be held in his honor on April 9 in the Alumni House. The award is presented annually to alumni of any business program at UNCG who have attained outstanding success in business and made significant contributions to their profession and the business community.

Joining RF Micro Devices as its fifth employee, Priddy rose from beginnings as controller in 1991 to treasurer from 1993 to 1999, and on to vice president of finance in 1994.

He became its chief financial officer and vice president of administration in July 1997. His responsibilities include accounting and finance, human resources and information technology. Among his accomplishments are helping to take RFMD public and raising several hundred millions of dollars of growth capital for the company.

RF Micro Devices was founded in Greensboro by William J. Pratt, Powell T. Seymour and Jerry D. Neal in 1991. The company provides the world's leading wireless manufacturers with the critical components that enable wireless devices to transmit and receive signals.

In a recommendation letter for Priddy, Powell Seymour wrote, “I have seen Dean grow from a conscientious businessman into a wise manager and astute leader. He has the ability to interface with analysts and shareholders, yet remain involved in the daily business and operation of the company.”

Priddy has won several prestigious awards, including the Excellence in Leadership Award presented by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS).

"Not only has Dean distinguished himself as one of the best CFOs in the semiconductor business, but also he has distinguished himself as an alum who has provided advice and financial support for information technology innovations in our curricula," said James Weeks, dean of the Bryan School.

Priddy assisted the Bryan School in implementing its enterprise resource planning systems (ERP) into the curriculum. The ERP software system is designed to help large corporations manage activities across different divisions.

Prior to joining the company, Priddy was employed for five years with Analog Devices, Inc in both financial and marketing positions.
He graduated from UNCG in 1983 and earned his MBA in 1986.  He also serves on the Bryan School’s Board of Trustees.
