UNCG Psychology Professor Awarded NSF Grant
GREENSBORO – Dr. Richard
Shull, professor of psychology at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro,
is the
recipient of a $80,400 grant from
the National Science Foundation for a two-year study on behavior entitled
“Rate of Bouts as a Measure of Response Strength.”
The study will contribute to the field of psychology a better means of predicting how motivation and rewards might affect behavior. A Ph.D. candidate and an undergraduate are assisting Shull in the study.
Shull joined the faculty of UNCG in 1969, and has published more than 50 articles and book chapters on behavior analysis. He has been named a fellow in two divisions of the American Psychological Association. Shull has served as editor of the “Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior,” and as president of the Southeastern Association for Behavior Analysis. He received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University. ###
