MFA Alumni-Authors to Give Readings at UNCG Nov. 7, Nov. 14

GREENSBORO— Author Warren Rochelle and poet Claudia Emerson, both graduates of the MFA Creative Program at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, will give free, public readings at 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Nov. 7 and Nov. 14, respectively, in the Faculty Center on College Avenue.

The readings are open to the public at no charge, and a reception and book signing will follow each. The authors’ books will be available for purchase before and after the reading. The event is sponsored by the MFA Program to celebrate the publication of their new works. More information is available by calling the program at 334-5459 in the UNCG Department of English.

Both authors are on the English Department faculty at Mary Washington College. Rochelle’s new novel is “The Wild Boy.” He is also the author of “Communities at Heart: The Rhetoric of Myth in the Fiction of Ursula K. Guin.” His short fiction and poetry have appeared in Aboriginal Science Fiction, Beyond the Third Planet, Crucible, and Romance and Beyond.

Emerson’s new poetry collection is titled “Pinion: An Elegy.” She is also the author of Pharaoh, Pharaoh. She is the recipient of artist fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Virginia Commonwealth Commission for the Arts, and her work appears widely in a variety of journals, including The Greensboro Review, The Southern Review, The Georgia Review, and Crazyhorse.
