UNCG Students to Hold Stellarcon March 19-21
GREENSBORO – Science fiction and fantasy will be celebrated in many forms at Stellarcon, the annual convention organized by students at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, when the weekend event is held Friday through Sunday, March 19-21, at the Radisson Hotel in High Point.
Admission at the door will be $40 for the weekend, $15 for Friday and Sunday and $25 for Saturday. Stellarcon hours are 2 p.m.-2 a.m. on Friday, 9 a.m.-2 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. Sponsored by the Science Fiction Fantasy Federation at UNCG, Stellarcon is celebrating its 28th year and is one of the oldest conventions in the Southeast devoted to science fiction, fantasy and gaming.
This year’s guests of honor will be writer Fred Saberhagen, author of the “Berserkers” and “Book of the Gods” series of novels, game designer Steven S. Long, and renowned fantasy illustrator Rowena.
Authors Aaron Allston (“Star Wars: Rebel Dream”), John Ringo (“Legacy of the Aldenata”), R.A. Salvatore (“The Dark Elf Trilogy”), Michael Stackpole (“Fortris Draconis”) and Timothy Zahn (“Star Wars: Dark Force Rising”) will all be appearing as special guests. Other guests include Michael De Meritt, first assistant director on “Star Trek: Enterprise” and Phillip Powell who penned the short film “Non-Abductees Anonymous.”
Stellarcon will hold its annual
charity auction, which will benefit Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro
this year. Over the past years, this auction has raised more than $10,000.
