March 25 Lecture to Examine Stonehenge as an Observatory
GREENSBORO – Dr. Dan Reichart, an assistant professor of physics and astronomy at UNC Chapel Hill, will deliver a public lecture about Stonehenge as an astronomical observatory at 7:30 p.m. March 25 at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
The Society of the Sigma XI and the Department of Physics and Astronomy are sponsoring the lecture in Room 116 of the Petty Science Building. Parking is available in the Walker Avenue Parking Deck.
Reichart will use a three-dimensional computer recreation of Stonehenge to explain the site’s astronomical properties. Attendees will watch the simulation of solar and lunar alignments as they occurred thousands of years ago.
