UNCG to Host Sustainable Agriculture Symposium April 16
GREENSBORO – The University of North Carolina at Greensboro will hold a symposium on sustainable agriculture 1-6 p.m. April 16 in Auditorium 101 of the Science Building.
Organized by the Department of Biology, the event is free and open to the public, and will provide a forum to learn about and discuss environmental issues important to central North Carolina. Sustainable agriculture promotes environmental stewardship, profitability, and social and economic equity.
Dr. David Pimentel from Cornell University will discuss the challenges of sustainable agriculture in both ecological and economic contexts. Dr. Doug Landis from Michigan State University will speak about ecologically-based pest management. Dr. Nancy Creamer from North Carolina State University will discuss the progression toward sustainability in North Carolina.
The symposium also will feature a panel discussion among the speakers, local farmers and the audience.
