Season Subscriptions Available for UNCG Theatre
GREENSBORO — From Rodgers and Hammerstein
to Henrik Ibsen, and from Shakespeare to Jose Rivera, UNCG Theatre
offers a season of great art and entertainment through the 2002-03 academic
year. Theatre goers can partake of all 11 productions by purchasing a season
subscription for just $54, thus saving $72 off the individual ticket price.
A second option allows subscribers to select from four plays for $37.
A third option allows participation in a community
of theatre aficionados, through membership in the UNCG Theatre Angels.
For $75, Angels receive one reserve seat ticket to six productions, “The
Sound of Music,” “An Enemy of the People,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,”
the UNCG Opera and “Marisol,” and a production of their choice. Angels
also receive invitations to dinners, workshops and guest lectures, and
many more benefits. The following plays are in this year’s lineup:

“Woody Guthrie’s American Song,”
music and writings by Woody Guthrie, conceived and adapted for stage by
Peter Glazer, Aug. 22-25.

“The Sound of Music,” music
and lyrics by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, Sept. 25-29.

“An Enemy of the People,” by
Henrik Ibsen, Oct. 30-Nov. 3.
-
“Anton in Show Business,” by
Jane Martin, Nov. 15-17, 21-24.
-
“J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit,”
adapted for stage by Edward Mast, Dec. 3-8.
-
“Flannel Shorts,” original 10-minute
plays by UNCG theatre students, Dec. 4-7.
-
“Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters,”
based on the book by John Steptoe, adapted by Karen Abbott, Jan. 28-Feb.

World premiere play (title to
be announced in December), Feb. 7-9, 13-16.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream,”
by William Shakespeare, Feb. 19-23.

UNCG Opera (title to be announced
in December), April 3-6

“Marisol” by Jose Rivera, April
