GREENSBORO — Dr. Theresa Sears has been named head of the department for Romance Languages and professor of Spanish at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Sears succeeded Dr. David A. Fein and will serve a four-year appointment. She was an associate professor of Spanish at the University of Missouri-St. Louis before coming to UNCG.
Sears earned a Ph.D. from Cornell University. She is the author of two
books, dozens of articles and conference papers on various Spanish and
French issues and has presented them in France, Belgium, Spain and Great
Britain. She has received a number of grants for course improvements including
participation in a $219,000 grant to refine and implement Integrating Students
into Interdisciplinary Studies (ISIS) project courses at the University
of Maine, Orono.
Sears is a member of the Modern Language Association, American Association
of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, International Arthurian Society,
Medieval Academy of America as well as several other professional societies.
