SCHEDULE CHANGES AND BAD WEATHER AT UNCG
|
When bad weather hits, call to check for class or work schedule changes |
GREENSBORO-The University of North Carolina at Greensboro will remain open during adverse weather conditions unless an administrative decision to change class and work schedules is made by Chancellor Patricia Sullivan.
With the first snow of the new year having fallen, faculty, staff and students can receive details by dialing three campus telephone numbers. As decisions are made on schedule changes, the details will be available at:
Details will be available on newscasts of the Triad's four television stations: WFMY-TV (News 2), WGHP-TV (FOX 8), WXLV-TV (ABC 45) and WXII-TV (News Channel 12). Area radio stations also will be contacted, but the primary information outlets will be the campus telephone extensions and the television stations.
Administrative decisions on schedule changes are made in the early morning hours by Chancellor Sullivan after consultation with Campus Police at approximately 5 a.m. The decisions are based on an examination of campus conditions, and contacts with the National Weather Bureau, and city, county and state police. Extreme weather conditions may prompt a decision on the evening before. In any case, schedule change information will be disseminated as soon as possible.
The information is disseminated to appropriate news outlets by the University News Service. Public announcements will be made via television and radio only if there is a modification or cancellation of the normal schedule of classes. Efforts will be made to provide the information no later than 6-6:30 a.m. In most cases, if an announcement is not made by 6:30 a.m., UNCG will open on its regular schedule.
Before adverse weather strikes, faculty, students and staff are encouraged to visit the Human Resource Services web page to familiarize themselves with the adverse weather leave policy and the adverse weather conditions table. Persons with questions can call HRS at 334-5009.
