FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Information Sources for Bad Weather Schedule Changes

GREENSBORO--The University of North Carolina at Greensboro will remain open during adverse weather conditions unless an administrative decision on changing work and class schedules is made by Chancellor Patricia Sullivan.

Students, faculty and staff can receive details on the UNCG home page (www.uncg.edu), or by dialing three campus telephone numbers: Adverse Weather Line (336-334-4400); Campus Switchboard (336-334-5000); and University Police (336-334-5963).

Details will be available on the Triad's four television stations: WFMY-TV (News 2), WGHP-TV (FOX 8), WXII-TV (News Channel 12) and WXLV-TV (ABC 45). Some area radio stations also will have information.

Efforts will be made to provide the information no later than 6-6:30 a.m. In most cases, if an announcement is not made by 6:30 a.m., UNCG will open on its regular schedule. Public announcements will be made via television and radio only if there is a modification of the normal schedule of classes.

Chancellor Sullivan makes decisions on schedule changes in the early morning hours after consultation with Campus Police. Factors include an examination of campus conditions, and contact with the National Weather Bureau, city, county and state police.  Extreme weather conditions may prompt a decision on the evening before.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to visit the Human Resource Services web page to familiarize themselves with the adverse weather leave policy (http://www.uncg.edu/hrs/advweath.htm) and the adverse weather conditions table (http://www.uncg.edu:80/hrs/advtable.htm). Persons with questions should call HRS at 334-5009.
