Community Youth Sport Development

Overview

The purpose of Community Youth Sport Development (CYSD) is to provide students the opportunity to study in youth development and to prepare competent, socially responsible physical activity practitioners for work in youth serving agencies.

  • Programs are offered at the Undergraduate and Graduate level.
  • Students interested in work in the field of CYSD should contact Dr. Tom Martinek.

Community outreach has been the hallmark of CYSD. The practical experiences provide CYSD students in both undergraduate and graduate programs with service learning opportunities by working with children from local community programs and schools. They also provide service learning experiences with international youth serving agencies. These experiences also provide wholesome physical activity with a heavy dose of life skill instruction.
