This concentration is designed to provide a pre-professional program of study with a focus on exercise
and sport science that also encompasses other fields of science (biology, chemistry,
physics, health, nutrition, and pharmacology).
After completing this
program students will have the necessary academic and clinical experience to
allow for future study in allied health fields. Examples include, but are not
limited to, athletic training (available in the department), physical therapy,
occupational therapy, physician's assistant, podiatry, dentistry, and medicine.
This concentration leads to K-12 Licensure for teaching physical education
in North Carolina and most other states. Throughout the program there are opportunities
for observation, participation, assisting, and teaching experiences with public
school students, including those with special needs.
Community Youth Sport Development
This concentration offers KIN students an option to study in a non-licensure program designed to prepare them to teach and work in community-based youth serving agencies.
