Department of Library and Information Studies

Library and Information Studies
Student Association

President: Amanda Click

Amanda hails from Peachtree City, Georgia, a charming suburb south of Atlanta. She graduated with a BS in Science, Technology and Culture from Georgia Tech in 2003 and took a stab at the corporate world shortly thereafter, but decided after a few years it wasn't her scene. A second-year student and graduate assistant in the LIS program at UNCG, Amanda aspires to find a position at an academic library upon graduation in May 2008, with a particular interest in administration and management. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing Trivial Pursuit and horseback riding.

Vice-President: Rishara Finsel

Rishara moved to Greensboro from a tiny place in western North Carolina called Bat Cave (seriously.)  She holds undergraduate degrees in art and industrial technology management, despite having no desire to work professionally in either field.  Small rural public libraries are of particular interest to Rishara, and she hopes to end up working in one, preferably one surrounded by mountains.  Rishara likes hiking, cooking, and puppies.  Additionally, she thinks that bio blurbs of this sort sound eerily similar to personal ads.

Secretary: Andy Foskey

Andy is not as scary as his picture would lead you to believe. He is actually quite friendly and approachable. You may see him diligently answering questions at the Jackson Library Reference Desk, or shelving organic goodies as Deep Roots Market. And came to Greensboro from the scenic hinterland of Western North Carolina, where he recieved a Bachelor's Degree in Humanities from Warren Wilson College (class of '03). One day, Andy hopes to live in a real big city, where he can work in a big ol' public library. He also hopes to someday work on a bookmobile that runs on bio-diesel fuel.

Treasurer: Linna Agne

I have lived in the Triad area for about ten years and have seen lots of changes here. Greensboro is a great city if you like parks and being outdoors. In fair weather, I try to cycle everywhere around town. Almost every Saturday morning you will find me at the Curb Market on Lindsay shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables. My favorite kick back and relax place is the Green Bean.

My academic interests are in academic reference work with a focus on humanities. You will find me at the reference desk in the fall as a reference intern.

Web Guy: Devin Singley

Devin is from Greensboro, and got his undergraduate at UNCG as well. First, he got a degree in Film and Television and that clearly worked out, so Devin decided being a Librarian was the next logical choice.

Devin (it seems weird to use third person considering Devin is updating this site) is a stereotypical Apple Computer geek, who likes to walk around barefoot, make websites, and play frisbee. Also, Devin is a bad speller.
