2007 University and SOE graduation ceremonies

Congratulations to all of our soon-to-be graduates of the Class of Fall 2007! Two separate ceremonies will be held to celebrate your tremendous accomplishments.

The university May Commencement Ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 20th, 2007 at the Greensboro Coliseum from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m with students needing to arrive by 9 a.m. to line up for the commencement processional. For more information go to the university’s Commencement Central.

A separate LIS Commencement and Reception will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. also on Thursday December 20th, 2007 at Jarrell Auditorium:

WHERE: Jarrell Auditorium on the UNCG campus (it's underneath the Jackson Library but you'll enter from a side door)

WHEN: 3:00-4:30 pm (we were told that the morning ceremony would last about 3 hours so this will maybe give folks a chance to grab some lunch but we'll have snacks in the lobby of the auditorium just in case it takes longer but if you're going to both it may not be a good idea to go to a sit-down restaurant that's crowded as you could become time stressed- have your family take you to DINNER :-)

WHAT: We will have a guest speaker and Dr. Shiflett will say a few words and you will get the secret Alumni handshake and there again is name calling and empty diploma folders handed out with great fanfare and more hugging and photo taking. IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND THE MORNING SESSION AT THE COLISEUM WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO ATTEND the afternoon event. Even if you didn't rent a robe, come anyway.

Following our ceremony we will have a fun reception at the Faculty House (about a 1-2 minute walk from the auditorium) where there will refreshments and more photos and visiting with friends, family, faculty and other LIS students and a time to say our farewells.
