Pre-Professional Opportunities:
Jackson Library Reference Internship Program
Work at UNCG’s Jackson library’s reference desk and gain valuable library experience and training. As an intern you will work between 10 – 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semester. Also, you will have weekly training sessions each week to learn new skills. Some interns can also have the opportunity to obtain experience with digital reference, collection development, and library instruction. Go to library.uncg.edu/depts/ref/interns/index.asp for more information and to download an application.
Graduate Assistantships
Half-time assistantships involve 20 hours of research, administrative, and or general departmental assistance per week. Application forms for assistantships are filed with the LIS Department. Selections are usually made in the spring for the following academic year.
Please complete and submit a graduate assistantship application by March 31 for assistantships beginning the following Fall. Full admission to the LIS graduate degree program is required for an assistantship (must have overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0). Graduate assistants are expected to carry at least 6 hours of course work per semester.
Additional GA opportunities may also be available at the Teaching Resources Center.
