Career Mentoring
The mentoring program is designed to support students in their career exploration during the MLIS degree program by allowing them to ask designated mentors in the field of Library and Information Studies questions regarding their careers, skills and competencies, or other relevant areas. However, you do not have to be a current student in order to participate! Prospective students, alumni, or others interested in the field are invited to join in on the discussions as well.
Discussions will take place on Facebook through the Discussion Board located on the UNCG Library and Information Studies group page. You need to have a Facebook account in order to access the group and the Discussion Board. The mentors will be checking the board regularly and will respond as quickly as possible. In addition to participating in the Discussion Board conversations, you may also contact a mentor at any time throughout the semester by sending them a message on Facebook.
Take advantage of this great opportunity to talk to people in your area of interest.
- Learn more about your area of interest.
- Network with people in the field.
- Ask questions you might be otherwise afraid to ask!
