LIS Career Night Was Successful!

The second LIS and LISSA Career Night, which was held on Monday, April 21, was an entertaining and informative evening.

The success of the event can be attributed to all our accomplished participants. Donna Seckar from the Career Service Center shared career, resume, and interview advice for library jobs. Donna discussed topics such as Behavioral Interviewing and the STAR technique. All students are welcome to visit to the Career Service Center for additional help with career services at any time.

Dr. Carmichael moderated the panel discussion with his usual flourish and zeal. The panel participants, David Bryden, Colleen Jackson, Nancy Snyder, and Jeff Stabnau spoke about their careers, management philosophies, and predictions for the field. The panel also gave valuable career advice, including getting experience in a library setting before you graduate, joining listservs or professional organizations to stay abreast of the field, and sending thank-you cards after an interview to stay in the forefront of the employer's mind.

Thanks to all our participants and to all those who attended!
