The M. Sangster Parrot Fellowship

To honor M. Sangster Parrott upon her retirement from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1989 her sister, Kathryn Cherry of Beaumont, Texas and her friend Cora Paul Bomar of Greensboro, North Carolina created the M. Sangster Parrott Library Science Fellowship with an initial gift of $11,000. The income only from this fund will be used as a graduate fellowship for a student entering the Master of Library and Information Studies degree program at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

The Department of Library and Information Studies (or its successor) will recommend a candidate for the M. Sangster Parrott Fellowship to the Dean of the Graduate School.

The fund is to be invested in accordance with the Board of Directors of The Excellence Foundation of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (or its successor) investment policy for the support and maintenance of the M. Sangster Parrott Library Science Fellowship. Only the interest will be used to fund the annual award in accordance with the investment policy of the UNCG Excellence Foundation.

Additional gifts, living and testamentary, may be added to this fund at any time by any interested party. All gifts to the fund are irrevocable.

If, at some future date and for whatever reason, the terms of this gift cannot be met, the Board of Directors of The Excellence Foundation of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro have the right to use the funds in some appropriate manner which will enhance the development of special collections of the Walter Clinton Jackson Library (or its successor) of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro as determined by the Director of the Library.
