The German Program welcomed German students Jamie Luckhaus, Phoebe Ogunwobi, Joshua Rath, and Anastasia Shymanovich into UNCG's chapter of the National German Honorary Society at its annual induction ceremony on February 12, 2015. The chapter also honored Dr. Penelope Pynes, Associate Provost for International Programs at UNCG, with an honorary membership for her outstanding contributions in promoting the study of German and German culture, particularly by establishing the study abroad exchange program with Germany for the UNC system. After the initiation ritual, inductees and guests enjoyed a game of Germany-themed "Jeopardy" created and hosted by the UNCG German Club. Congratulations to our new members!

Delta Phi Alpha

The National German Honor Society, Delta Phi Alpha, seeks to recognize excellence in the study of German and to provide an incentive for higher scholarship. The Society aims to promote the study of the German language, literature and civilization and endeavors to emphasize those aspects of German life and culture which are of universal value and which contribute to man's eternal search for peace and truth. UNCG's chapter Kappa Eta was founded in 1992 and holds yearly initiation ceremonies, usually in early December. Our members maintain the German Club, host Kaffeestunde, and engage with all things German across campus and the Greensboro community.
