Student Spotlights

Paul Renigar, M.A. Spanish, Class of 2011

Paul grew up in Italy. He began his linguistics training at the Defense Language Institute Presidio of Monterey, California (DLIFLC) where he also taught as a Spanish Instructor. He received his M.A. in Romance Languages from UNCG and is currently completing his Ph.D. in the Second Language Acquisition and Teaching program at the University of Arizona, majoring in Language Use and minoring in Pedagogy. His interests include Critical Discourse Studies and the use of language in the semiotic deconstruction of ideologies. His current dissertation research is on Second Language Social Networking for the Quantum Mind, with methodologies informed by Ecology, Chaos/Complexity Theory, Dynamic Systems Theory, and Post-Performativity approaches to the non-linear and non-chronological development of language and identity.
