Welcome to the website of the UNC Greensboro Department of Mathematics and Statistics. I am honored to be serving as Interim Department Head for 2023-24, and every day I am impressed by the devotion shown by faculty and students in this department to the field of mathematics and to the success of students at UNCG.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers degrees from bachelor’s degrees to the Ph.D. degree, and last year served over 4,600 students through courses in mathematics and statistics. Department faculty are actively engaged in research that pushes the boundaries of knowledge in mathematics and statistics, and many students are involved in this exciting research.

The department regularly hosts outside speakers, colloquia, and seminars on a broad range of topics, which you can find through the “Events” link at the top of the department’s website. The department also brings in attendees from around the region for the Regional Mathematics and Statistics Conference, held annually on the UNCG campus. Every other year, researchers from around the world come to campus for AISC, the International Conference on Advances in Interdisciplinary Statistics and Combinatorics, which will next be held in October 2024.

Please browse around our website and discover more of what we do and what we offer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. I’m sure that you’ll find, like I have, that the people in this department provide a valuable part of the development of critical skills for UNC Greensboro students, and faculty and activities in the department contribute to the scholarly life of the university.
