Schedule of Activities The summary schedule of main activities will be structured as follows:

  1. Weeks 1--2: Orientation and Training
    1. Welcome and tour of Elon University.
    2. Computing systems overview.
    3. Initial meetings with PIs and graduate students and social gatherings.
    4. Selection of topics for participants and beginning of the research.
    5. Intensive, targeted workshops on local fields and Galois theory.
    6. Introductory workshops on using LaTeX, Magma, and on using library and online resources.
  2. Weeks 3--7: Student Research
    1. Group meetings (daily).
    2. Mathematical writing sessions (bi-weekly).
    3. Prepare technical reports on their research (weekly).
    4. Group lunch (daily).
    5. Content/research skill seminar development and/or field trip (weekly)
  3. Week 8: Student Presentations
    1. Final editing sessions for technical reports and trial presentations.
    2. Final project presentations.
