Support for young researchers

We have received NSF funding to support a limited number of young researchers who present a paper (students and recipients of PhD degrees after October 5, 2010). As per the grant proposal, preference will be given to women and minority participants from this group. If you wish to apply for this award, please send your request along with your registration form directly to Professor Sat Gupta by email at sngupta@uncg.edu. The deadline is July 31, 2012 but we will start offering these awards right away. So, send in your application as soon as possible.

Your aplication package must include the following:

  1. A completed Young Researcher Award Application.
  2. A one-page research statement that includes your research activity. If you are a student, you should include the name of the research advisor, and a signed endorsement by your research advisor.
  3. Abstract of your proposed talk must be uploaded for your application to be considered.
  4. A completed registration form. Please do not register online and do not send us a check until a decision on your application has been made.

If you are selected for the award, your registration fee will be waived. You may also get single or shared accommodation at Park lane Hotel for a few nights. If you get some travel award also, you will be reimbursed after the conference. Your award letter will give you detailed information. The average value of each award will be $500 +/-.
