Assistant/Associate Professor in Computational Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro seeks applications for two tenure-track positions in Computational Mathematics at the Assistant Professor rank beginning 8/1/2013. Experienced candidates may also be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Competitive applicants will have research that complements our Ph.D. program in Computational Mathematics. Preference will be given to candidates in mathematical biology and computational PDEs. Candidates must hold or anticipate a PhD in mathematics or closely related area by August 1, 2013. Excellence in both teaching and research is expected. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

UNCG is a doctorate granting university with an enrollment of about 18,500 students. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics currently has 19 tenured/tenure track faculty and offers a variety of degree programs. The university is located in the Piedmont region of NC and provides easy access to major research centers in the state including Research Triangle Park. Experienced candidates may also be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. The salary will be commensurate with experience. Candidates must hold or anticipate a PhD in statistics or closely related area by August 1, 2013. Strong candidates in all applied research areas in statistics will be considered. Excellence in teaching and research is expected, and some exposure to statistical consulting is desirable.
