UNCG Clarinet Studio New Student Information
Dr. Burke, Dr. Taylor and Dr. Riley and all returning clarinet students are looking forward to having you join our exciting studio. We have told them many times what a strong class of new students there will be!! Band and Orchestra auditions will be on Monday, August 25th, from 11-3. If you do not have the required excerpts, please download them here. (If you are playing your audition on Bass Clarinet, simply prepare two short excerpts that demonstrate your technical and musical ability.) You may play the excerpts on Bb clarinet if you do not own an A clarinet. You will receive an additional notice from Dr. John Locke, Director of UNCG Bands that will confirm the audition times. Your audition is a chance for us to hear you play and make sure you are in the proper ensemble. Here is a list of books you should purchase for your clarinet lessons if you don't already own them: Hite, Foundation Studies from Baermann, Southern Music You may order these from your local music store or from Muncy Winds in Boone, NC. Their number is 1-800-333-6415. This company is very fast. Please order these books today!! They are required texts for this class and it will put you behind if you arrive without this music. These texts will be used for several semesters. Solo repertoire will be chosen at your first lesson and you will be expected to purchase that ASAP.
