Featuring Russian Romantics, June 8-10, 2006

Whether you are a piano teacher, a student, a performer, or a classical music listener, you can rely on the Russian Romantics to awaken your inner Slav. At the 2006 Focus on Piano Literature you’ll revel in two and a half days of some of the world’s most beloved music.

The delights in store include

• Vladimir Viardo’s transcendent pianism in Tchaikovsky’s beloved Nutcracker and Medtner’s rare Sonata Romantica

• Donald Manildi’s expert commentaries on the great Russian piano traditions

• a Viardo masterclass on Rachmaninoff

• North Carolina’s finest young pianists playing favorite Russian classics

• the talents of numerous UNCG faculty and student presenters

• and a Russian-themed banquet menu. Borscht? You bet!

Add in lively discussion, a video exploring the Russian Romantic musical tradition, and the convivial society of new and returning musical friends, and you have the makings of an unforgettable weekend!
