1. The Dean will again host "Lunch with the Dean" during the Fall Semester. This will be a chance to join the Dean and a small group of faculty colleagues to discuss issues pertaining to the SOM. Watch your mailbox for further details.

2. Please assist us by informing your students (and helping to enforce this...) that posting of notices on any surface in the building other than spaces dedicated for that purpose will no longer be permitted (this includes doors, walls, and lockers) once the new, large bulletin boards are installed on the first floor. This applies to all three floors. The third floor doors, railings, etc., are also looking shabby, so please avoid taping notices on those surfaces as well. We will distribute an email announcement to all faculty and students once these new boards are in place.

3. A Faculty Forum will be held on 19 September in Room 221 for the purpose of discussing the music fundamentals examination. John Locke and Kent Williams will be moderating that discussion.

4. The Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE) will be meeting here September 13-15. This is the seond meeting of this organization on this campus over the past three years. Please join me in welcoming these guests from across the nation.

4. The first Daniel Ericourt Residency will occur on October 9, featuring a recital by the noted pianist, Jose Feghali. Please mark your calendars for this exciting event.
